The ABC in Australia aired a series of TV programs on Landline as follows:
ActionBioscience.org is a non-commercial, educational web site created to promote bioscience literacy.
GM crops: A bitter harvest? documentary shown on BBC UK in June 2002.
GM Jury an interesting concept that was conducted in the UK based on a jury of ordinary people. Many points are listed in the "verdict" the three main ones being:
  • A halt to the current sale of GM food
  • Doing long-term research on the environment and potential for harm
  • End blanket assertion that GM crops are necessary to feed starving populations

Genetically Engineered Crops and Pesticide Use in the United States: The first Nine Years October 2004. Is an excellent paper funded by the Union of Concerned Scientists and prepared by Charles Benbrook. It shows that farmers now use more pesticide on the top three GE crops—corn, soybeans, and cotton—than on conventional varieties.

Book list

The following is a list of books dealing with the Genetic engineering issue. For each book the date of publication and ISBN number are included for reference.

Recoding Nature: Critical Perspectives on Genetic Engineering
The book addresses some fundamental and profound questions such as: Are GM foods safe to eat? What do consumers think about GM foods and, alternatively, organic produce? What are the real risks of genetic pollution? And is it appropriate to delete a supposed gene for sadness? 'Recoding Nature' challenges the assumptions of those preparing the world for a recoded DNA future

Teach Yourself Genetics
To start with this book is not against GE foods. It is included in this list as a good introduction and history of genetics which I found interesting and informative, especially some of the early historical aspects.
